Enabling SMS Messaging
You will need to enable and setup SMS messaging before you will be able to send and receive text messages from your account. Getting started is quick and easy.
Begin by navigating to “Messaging” in the dashboard side bar menu. Near the top of the page, click the button labelled “Enable SMS” and confirm that you wish to setup SMS messaging for your account.
Select a phone number
When the page reloads, you will need to purchase a phone number for your shop. This is the number your account’s SMS messages will be sent from as well as the number customers can reply to. Don’t worry, you won’t be charged an additional fee to purchase a number for your shop, as 1 phone number is included in each Standard subscription plan.
You can select a number from the “Select Number “input. Though it doesn’t matter which phone number you choose, it can be nice to get one that with a local prefix. By default, Velodrop tries to find available phone numbers with a local prefix based on your shop’s location settings. If you don’t see anything you like in the list, you can click the refresh button to the right of the input to repopulate the input with a different set of number. Options are limited however, so we can not guarantee that you will find the prefix you are looking for.
You should now be able to send and receive SMS text messages and reminders from your account!
